Espírito Santo company received the green light from ANTT to begin expropriations of EF 355, which connects Barra de São Francisco to the North-South Railway
The north of the state is closer to becoming an important logistics hub not only for the state but also for the country. The Declaration of Public Utility for the second railway of the Petrocity Group was published today in the Official Gazette of the Union, which will connect the city of Barra de São Francisco to the North-South Railway, which connects Itaqui, in Maranhão, to Santos, in São Paulo.
The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) approved the preliminary project presented by Petrocity Ferrovias and published in the Official Gazette of the Union the Declaration of Public Utility (DUP) that authorizes the company, as a matter of urgency, to expropriate land to build the EF 355 - Ferrovia Planalto Central, between Brasília and Mara Rosa (GO).
With this, Petrocity now has the most important document to date for more than 1,600 kilometers of its railway network . This means that along this distance, the areas in the area of the railway bed are of federal interest and will be expropriated. There are 80 meters of domain, 40 meters on each side of the central axis of the railway. A week ago, the company had already obtained the DUP for EF030 - Estrada de Ferro Juscelino Kubitschek, between Barra de São Francisco and Brasília.
"The expectation is that the stretch to Brasília will cost R$15 billion. The investment is private capital. The works should begin in 2026 and be completed in 2029, because we intend to open several work fronts simultaneously," said the president of Petrocity, José Roberto Barbosa Da Silva.
These are already two of the four railways authorized for the Espírito Santo company. The expectation now is for the DUP of the Minas-Espírito Santo Railway, connecting the Private Use Terminal (TUP) of Urussuquara, in São Mateus, to Barra de São Francisco and Santana do Paraíso, in Vale do Aço. The fourth project is a 50-kilometer connection of the EF 355, between Corumbá de Goiás and Anápolis.
On January 15th there will be a public hearing at Palácio Anchieta, when Petrocity must present the current stage of the project, considered the most advanced of all railway contracts authorized in the country.
